Paint Schemes - the first of many

I have finally gotten around to starting paint schemes for my NASCAR 09 rides. I am taking a much different approach this time around, mostly due to the nature of the game. Yes, this is the first console module that allows totally custom paint as opposed to the cookie cutter schemes of past efforts. Apparently, the modders from NR2003 and such have finally gotten to the game makers.

I noticed that none of EA's models or schemes are based on any manufacuter. In fact, there is no mention of Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Toyota in the game at all. Now, the traditionalists would say your paint scheme should be one of those four. The true traditionalists would even say you shouldn't have ANY custom schemes and you should race using real team and sponsor paints. Well, I'm no traditionalist...

Introducing my first creation. The base (unpainted) template for a Mazda RX-8 scheme...

Note the headlights, tail lights, and manufacturer badges, as you would expect from a typical paint scheme. Now, also notice the grille shape, fog lamps, rotary hood shading, and brake vents - all unique to the RX-8. We have to wait and see how the paint schemes work out, but the base scheme looks good in the game.

Since I am still only in the Truck series in my career mode, I started with a truck scheme. Presenting the Jack Links Beef Jerky Messin' with Sasquatch / Mack Trucks Chevrolet Silverado #111:

Of course, I can make any scheme available with any number if anyone wants one for their catalog or to run or whatever.

OK, I'm off to work. Can't race until I finish a few side projects.
